About Us |
The Music Farm is is owned and run by Tom Tyson, a Member of The British Academy of Composers and Songwriters, who at the age of just 17, became a professional musician.
Less than two years later he was working as bass guitarist with The Freddie Starr Band. After a one year stint with the band and after many T.V. and recording sessions, Tom joined American singer songwriter Gene Pitney and was to tour the world as a member of his band.
After several years touring, Tom decided to return to his native Cumbria and establish a recording studio. The result is the 'Music Farm', a professional studio in an idyllic two and a half acre setting overlooking the Lakeland fells.
Tom has now been in the recording field for over 25 years and has become a successful writer/producer, earning his first gold disc with Simon Cowell in 1998. Working as both producer and session musician, Tom has recorded in many famous studios, including George Martin's 'Air Studios', Trever Horn's 'Sarm', C.T.S. Studios Wembley, 'Advision' and 'First Run Studios' Nashville USA.
The Music Farm can arrange accommodation at nearby Country Pubs/Hotels - all serving good ale and excellent food. Horse riding, river fishing and fell walking can also be booked with due notice.
The Music Farm has been involved with the legendary guitarist 'Albert Lee', and recorded seven tracks which appear on Albert’s 'Tear It Up' album released in 2002. Albert and his band 'Hogans Hero's' returned to The Music Farm in 2007 to record six more tracks for the album 'Like This' released in 2008.
The Music Farm would like to take this opportunity to thank all our clients, and are looking forward to working with you on your next project. We have many packages available so please call for rates.
